Sanctuary - see Sandhill Cranes in October. Bloomfield
Hills Nature Preserve - you never know what you could encounter. Dodge
Park - 40620 Utica Rd - plenty of woodpeckers and ducks. Harsen's
Island - An excellent site viewing for ducks, geese, and swans. Hudson
Mills Metropark - has Bluebird nesting boxes. Kensington
Metropark - great for viewing swans and woodland birds. Deer and rodents as
well. Lake
Erie Metropark - great for viewing gulls and herons, also redwings. Seasonal
hawks. Lloyd
A. Stage Nature Center - butterflies in early spring, Eastern Cottontail Rabbits,
turtles, garden and wildbirds, as well as waterfowl and deer. Metro
Beach Metropark - good sightings of shorebirds, gulls, and also ducks in the
woodland area. Seasonal swallows. Redwings and grackles in the marsh area. Turtles
as well. Groundhogs near the picnic site. Pointe
Mouillee State Game Area - Swans and gulls, also wildbirds. Do not visit before
April due to hunting. Seven
Ponds Nature Center - An excellent location for summer butterflies, squirrels,
and Nuthatches. Also good for turtles. Stony
Creek Metropark - raptors can be viewed near the nature center. See the Osprey
trail as well. Also good for summer butterflies. More
